My December (album)
My December is the title of the upcoming third album by Kelly Clarkson, to be released on June 26, 2007[5]. Clarkson confirmed the name of the album in her journal on her fanclub website on February 27, 2007.[6] Clarkson has stated in interviews that she has written this entire album herself
Track listing
All fourteen songs have been confirmed for the album.[8]
* "Never Again" was the first single released from the album (to radio) on April 13, 2007. * "One Minute" which Clarkson performed at the Daytona 500 on February 18, 2007 * "Sober" which Clarkson talks about in a video on her official fan club (fan club videos are only viewable to members).[9] * "Maybe" (confirmed by producer David Kahne) * "Yeah" * "Haunting" [10] * "Be Still"[11] * "Hole" * "Can I Have A Kiss?" which Kelly said on the Today Show was a favorite with everyone who'd heard the album. * "Judas" * "Chivas" * "How I Feel" * "Irvine"
The album's producer stated on a behind the scenes video that there were around 60 tracks written for the album and that after whittling them down, 27 were recorded and 19 will be used. In an interview with Blender Magazine, Clarkson mentioned that she had written songs for the album such as "Come Here", "Yeah", and also "Irvine". The only song left over that has not been confirmed as a track is "Come Here," and also another song she played earlier titled "All I Know". Some suspect this is the last of the tracks, but others say that it is too short, considering that when Kelly performed it Live it was only 2:30. Also "Chivas" has been confirmed as a hidden track on the album, therefore creating one spare place on the album. Most fans believe that the last track will be a track called "Anymore", sung on the Addicted Tour."
Release Date
In numerous interviews, Kelly stated that the release date for My December would be July 24. She stated this in interviews such as TRL. But, Kelly was recently on Jimmy Kimmel Live and she confirmed that My December would be released on June 26 so that her fans could learn the songs before the tour started. Kelly said that the original release date, July 24, did not make any sense.
Conflict With Record Label
Sources have reported that Clive Davis, the head of Sony-BMG, was apparently dissatisfied with the album. Davis reportedly wanted Clarkson to make significant changes to the album, with some rumors claiming that he even wanted to scrap the entire album, and have her record all new material. According to these sources, Clarkson reportedly refused to change any of the material, and ended up getting her way, causing tense feelings between her and Davis. These reports were later denied by reps for both RCA and Clive Davis, with Davis specifically stating that Kelly is "one of the top four artists at Sony BMG" and wanted to ensure that she is treated as such.
Singles
"Never Again" is the first single by Kelly Clarkson on her website on April 4th. The track hit the airwaves on Friday, April 13, 2007, being officially debuted by Clarkson herself on Los Angeles based 102.7 KIIS-FM's radio show "On-Air with Ryan Seacrest." The video was shot in Los Angeles between April 10th-13th. The video premiered on TRL on May 1st.
Clarkson said in interviews on May 8th 2007, that "Sober" and "One Minute" might be singles. It is most likely that "Can I Have A Kiss" will also be a single due to its great recption.
"My December" Tour
Clarkson announced on her website that the My December Tour would start on July 11th 2007 in Portland, OR. The tour has in 37 dates across America and Canada.[15]Mat Kearney will open for her[16] and another possible special guest may accompany her.
